Stibbs's expedition reached the north-bank port of Barracunda in early 1724. The pilot pointed out where the former settlement had stood, but Stibbs saw little visible building material and reported no ferry operating there. The account records a changed trading site, not an empty or vanished Wuli society. [books-stibbs-1724]
An alkali came from Jah, about nine miles away, and told the visitors that people from Barracunda were living there after their town had been broken. The report preserves displacement within the river region but does not explain the destruction from residents' point of view. Jah's modern identity and any living lineage connection remain unverified. [books-stibbs-1724]
